Switching Diode Information

Switching diodes are diodes that can be used for switching purposes in place of mechanical switches or relays. Some useful facts about these diodes are:

  1. Large signal leads are eliminated when used to replace mechanical switches or relays.
  2. Switching speeds are a function of the operating frequency and are usually faster than mechanical switches.
  3. For DC audio applications one can use a silicon power-supply rectifier diode.
  4. RF circuits can be controlloed by switching diodes.
  5. To identify this type of diode one must read the value off the component or find the part number or manufacturers number.
